This week in Little Stars Junior, we have continued our exciting journey into the world of numbers, taking our learning one step further!
After becoming familiar with recognising and counting numbers, our little learners have now been exploring number symbols and their meanings. We have been practising writing and recognising numerals, while learning to connect each symbol with the correct quantity.
Through hands-on activities, counting games and matching exercises, the children have been developing a deeper understanding of how numbers represent the things we see around us.
We have also started introducing some very simple addition activities. The children have enjoyed combining small groups of objects and counting how many they have altogether. Using toys, counters and other practical resources has helped make these first steps into addition fun, visual and easy to understand.
Alongside our maths activities, we have continued encouraging concentration, problem-solving, communication and fine motor skills through writing, tracing and number-based games.
It has been wonderful to see the children becoming more confident with numbers and beginning to understand that mathematical symbols can help us describe and solve problems. We are very proud of their curiosity and enthusiasm as they continue to discover just how exciting maths can be!
